Hello everyone, nice to meet you! I’m Puppun, a 21-year-old university student living in Tokyo. As a hobby, I absolutely love watching anime. For my inaugural post, I thought I’d introduce myself a bit.
About me
I was born and raised in a corner of Tokyo. Ever since I was little, I had a knack for running fast. In Japan, there are these long-distance running events called marathon competitions, and I always managed to come in first. So, the beginning of my life was marked by long-distance track and field. Even when I entered junior high, I continued with the sport and even made it to the national competition! I was quite a speedy athlete in Japan, believe it or not (lol). That’s how I started high school with a sports scholarship for track and field.
The majority of my life was painted with the colors of track and field. However! When I entered high school, my track records suddenly stopped improving. I became quite disheartened, and I lost the motivation to excel in anything. And then, I discovered anime. While watching anime, I didn’t have to think about anything, and it was full of enjoyable moments. The characters were cute and cool, and I was immediately drawn in. My life transformed into one centered around watching anime.
What character I like
My favorite character is Rem from “Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World.” She’s incredibly cute, and I love how devoted and selfless she is towards Subaru. Actually, I have a Rem body pillow (lol). Don’t tell my mom about it! In the anime, she’s still sleeping, forgotten by everyone because of the White Whale, Ley Batenkaitos. I really hope she wakes up soon and comes back lively.
Why I start this blog
Eventually, I gave up on track and field, becoming an ordinary university student. Since I spent most of my time watching anime, I found myself without any special skills and didn’t know what to do. In that moment of uncertainty, I stumbled upon the university’s study abroad program in the United States. I thought, “It would be cool if I could speak English!” and promptly applied. During my study abroad in Washington state, I met people who loved Japanese anime, and they helped me improve my English skills.
Upon returning home, my English skills declined, but with a strong desire to connect with anime enthusiasts worldwide, That’s why I decided to start a blog. Even though I rely on translation assistance, and my English might not be natural or could be full of mistakes, I want to share thoughts about Japanese anime in English with anime fans around the world! That’s one of my dreams.
