I recently purchased a bookshelf and assembled it, so my arms are now as strong as a gorilla’s. Feeling proud! Today, I want to announce my top 10 personally recommended anime with overpowered protagonists! “This ranking is not about ‘Who I think has the strongest character!’ or anything like that. It simply focuses on the works that I personally find interesting.”
10th Overlord
Well, when it comes to the strongest protagonist, I think it’s Ainz Ooal Gown – seriously, I haven’t encountered anyone in real life stronger than Ainz yet (lol). For real (lol). My favorite character is Shalltear. She’s often called a ‘Rori character’ in Japanese, but she’s awesome. However, since the main character changes after the second season, that’s why I placed it in this ranking.”
9th Saki-Saki
This anime revolves around the protagonist playing mahjong, and let me tell you, the main character is seriously overpowered (lol). He can actually score 0 points, you know. Catch my drift? That basically means he’s unbeatable. Since mahjong is a game where you compete with points, he can win as much as he wants if he decides to. Also, mahjong might not be familiar, but it’s a popular board game in Japan and China, so you can learn a thing or two about it
8th Classroom of the Elite
I’ve been waiting for you, Katsuragi! Katsuragi! Katsuragi isn’t the protagonist, lol.
The main character is Ayanokouji. At the high school called Advanced Nurturing High School, Ayanokouji tries to hide his true abilities to avoid attention, but he gets exposed bit by bit. He’s not only smart but also has combat skills, making him the strongest. Sakayanagi is the cutest. No objections accepted.
7th Saga of Tanya the Evil
This anime is one that tends to be divisive; it’s like the love-hate relationship with veggies, you know? (lol) It’s about this middle-aged guy with a logical mindset getting pushed onto a train platform, getting reincarnated as a little girl, and then diving into war. The protagonist’s name is Tanya Degurechaff. Besides her combat skills, what I really root for is her intelligence. The power she gained in her previous life, climbing the ranks in a big corporation, comes in handy in this world. Also, don’t miss out on the stellar performance by the voice actress Aoi Yuki. So, yeah, remember to eat your veggies, and maybe give this one a shot!
6th That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
Well, I think everyone loves it. I got reincarnated as a slime from Japan, but what’s cool is that I can acquire the abilities of anything I absorb. Overpowered, right? Maybe the only one who could beat Rimuru is, giving him a generous 100 steps, probably Gobta, but that’s a laugh. He’d be taken down in 2 seconds (lol). The charm is in the protagonist building a country with his friends.
5th Katanagatari
I might confuse some people, but this isn’t part of the Monogatari series (lol). Although it’s another work by Nisio Isin, the content is entirely different. With a total of 12 episodes, it’s a quick and enjoyable watch, so I recommend it. Seriously, I want everyone to watch the anime right away – the animation of the battle scenes is just mind-blowing. The choreography of sword techniques is incredibly cool.
4th No Game No life
I absolutely love this series. The protagonists are a pair of siblings – Sora and Shiro. These two are unbeatable in one particular aspect: games. The story revolves around them diving into a world where everything is determined by the outcome of games and facing various challenges.
3rd Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
The remarkable aspect of this protagonist is his ability called ‘Geass,’ which can compel anyone to obey him absolutely. The story follows a young protagonist who, armed with his newfound Geass, rebels against his own country to seek revenge on his father. While Geass is undoubtedly a formidable ability, it’s his overwhelmingly sharp intellect that truly stands out.
2nd Sword Art Online
It has many series, but I highly recommend the classic among classics. The protagonist enters a game world and engages in battles. If you die in the game, you die in real life, leading to the development of a death game. Kirito is so strong that there’s not much to say. For those who haven’t seen it, just give it a try. Let’s quickly move Alice to the top because she’s the cutest.
1st The Irregular at Magic High School
It’s genuinely one of my favorite anime, probably watched it around 20 times for real. Tatsuya Shiba is just ridiculously strong. Similar to Ayanokouji from ‘Classroom of the Elite’ that I mentioned earlier, he tries to hide his abilities, but they keep getting exposed. He can use Regrowth to heal his body, invented a magic to fly in the sky, and even possesses a magic that nullifies other magic in a world where magic is the primary form of combat. And when he gets serious, it’s usually when his sister is in danger. The sibling bond between Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba is also beautifully portrayed, so be sure to check it out.
Conclusion
How did you like my personal top 10 list of overpowered protagonist anime? Just be careful not to catch ‘chuunibyou’ (adolescent delusions) from it, okay? I’m already there though (lol). I’d be really happy if people from overseas enjoyed it too. If there’s any other ranking you’d like to know or if you have any comments, feel free to let me know! Well then, have a great day!
